Student Recreation Center
The Student Recreation Center is App State's "state-of-the-art" recreation center, complete with facilities for swimming, fitness training, aerobic exercise, and indoor sports. Cannon Music Campers will be charged $TBA per visit. You can purchase your pass at our camp office Monday - Friday during regular office hours. (optional fee).
App State has Tennis Courts (you provide your equipment) and open fields to play in for no charge.
For those desiring to rent lockers, the fee is $TBA for the 3 week period. You can pay for this at registration. (optional, but highly recommended- much easier to leave your instrument in a locker than transporting each day)
You are expected to furnish your own instruments. A limited number of instruments may be rented from the School of Music for a fee of $TBA for the 3 week period. Please e-mail our office to reserve your instrument. (optional fee)
Instrumentalists should also bring a folding music stand.
Private Instruction on a Second Instrument or Voice
You will receive your fee 3 -1-hour lessons on your primary instrument/voice. All secondary lessons are subject to the availability of the camp faculty and your schedule. The fee is $TBA for three -1/2 hour lessons, and $TBA for three - 1-hour lessons. Meet in the studio with the instructor on Monday or Tuesday to schedule secondary lessons. Take signed permission slip and correct fees to the camp office no later than Tuesday afternoon to secure your lesson. (optional)

Piano Class is available for beginners (students who have had no previous instruction in piano), and Intermediate. You will sign up and pay for the group class before camp or on registration day, and If your schedule allows you to take this class your payment of $TBA will be charged/deposited when camp begins. Registration information will be sent out in early May. Limited sections will be offered twice a week. The cost is $TBA and includes materials (optional).
Intermediate Piano Class is offered with the following pre-requisites:
Ideally, Intermediate piano students will have had at least 2 years of private study prior to camp (although exceptions may be made). Students should demonstrate familiarity with the following:
- Ability to locate most notes in the correct octave on the keyboard
- Reading easily from the Grand Staff (treble & bass clefs bracketed together)
- Playing chords (2-3 notes together in the same hand) underneath a melody
- Playing outside the 5-finger position
- Playing in various keys

Alexander Technique is an internationally recognized method designed to increase performance ability through the discovery of ways which may relieve performance anxiety. You will sign up and pay for the group class before camp or on registration day, and if your schedule allows you to take this class, your payment of $TBA will be charged/deposited when camp begins. Registration information will be sent out in early May. The cost is $TBA and includes materials. (optional)
