Cannon Music Camp - The Southeast's Premier Comprehensive Music Camp!

We are disappointed to share with you news that for the second time in fifty-three years, Cannon Music Camp will not assemble in-person on the campus of Appalachian State University during the summer of 2021.  However, we will still operate as an online experience very similar to 2020 but with some innovative changes to meet the needs of students and music educators.

For Summer 2021, Cannon Music Camp will offer a completely free online/remote experience as an innovative way to support music through the summer and prepare for a return to school in the fall.  This summer's experience will be completely free and no registration is required. Cannon Music Camp continues to plan our hopeful return to an in-person Cannon Music Camp for the summer of 2022.

Please check the COVID-19 Update! tab at the top of this page for more detailed information.

Cannon Music Camp is the premier comprehensive music camp in the Southeast. Cannon Camp is a three-week music-filled retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, with intensive college preparatory work in performance and music theory. Campers participate in daily ensemble rehearsals and music theory classes in an atmosphere that elevates everyone’s musicianship. Equally important is the one-on-one instruction each camper receives in weekly private lessons.  Open to serious student musicians who are rising high school freshmen to rising college freshmen. Applications will open around the first of December and close the day prior to camp.

Cannon Music Camp is for serious student musicians who are rising high school freshmen to graduating seniors. You will learn and perform with the Hayes School of Music Faculty. Finale Performances are held in Rosen Concert Hall. Attending our summer camp is a great way to learn about the Hayes School of Music, our faculty, and staff along with the campus and surrounding area of Boone, North Carolina.

In Memory and Honor of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Cannon

Cannon Music Camp would like to acknowledge the continuing financial support of The Mariam and Robert Hayes Charitable Trust. Without this support, this outstanding musical experience would not be possible. If you are interested in a brief history of the camp, please see the attached PDF.
