Getting the Most Out of Camp

Family and Friends: Although you will be busy making music, you don't want to forget about the people that sent you here. Parents may telephone campers as follows:

  • Living Learning Center (828-266-5863) daily between 8:00 A.M. and 12:00 Midnight to leave a message.
  • Camp office (828-262-4091) between 8:30 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday to leave a message.

Parents Concerns: At the Parent Orientation meeting on Saturday at 2:00 PM, we will go over important information about camp. The Parent Handbook provides an e-mail address that can be used to contact your counselor with concerns or questions, Monday thru Friday.

Guests: Day guests, except parents, are not allowed in the residence hall without the permission of our Camp Director or Camp Dean. No one is permitted above the main floor except while moving in or out. Parents may enter the other floors on moving days only.

OVERNIGHT GUESTS are not permitted to stay in the residence hall under any condition.

If campers are leaving for the day with parents or a relative for lunch, etc., we will refer to the REQUIRED "Parent Identification/Release of Liability" form (see form below). You will notify your counselor in advance when you are going to be gone and teachers when you are going to be missing classes. There is a sign out/in registration form to complete also.

Sunday mornings are free. Attend worship as you choose. If you are interested in attending a church you must be accompanied by a camp chaperone. You will need to contact that church prior to camp and see if arrangements can be made with them for transportation. Cannon Music Camp cannot provide transportation for this activity. Parents/Guardians may give permission for church transportation on our "Parent Identification/Release of Liability Record" form or by email/fax following the start of camp. This form is available online or at registration.

Residence Hall Living: The rooms are configured into suites with two beds per room and two rooms per suite with one shared bathroom for four campers. Beds are Twin XL, so plan you're bedding accordingly. We will be housed in the Living Learning Center this summer. Campers are divided into groups called "CABINS," with approximately ten to twelve campers per cabin/counselor. A counselor is assigned to a cabin and helps plan and coordinate activities, supervises their campers, disperses daily information, etc.

Good Housekeeping: Brooms, mops, and dustpans are available for cleaning. ENJOY THEM! Counselors will check rooms periodically. Before you check out, your room will be inspected.
