Music Theory

Each camper will have a theory class. We offer several levels of music theory. From the results of the theory placement assessment taken on the first evening of camp, all campers will be placed into a level that meets them where they are (musically speaking) and helps them grow into a deeper understanding of how music is put together. These classes meet Monday through Friday. (Theory Guide- PDF)  We also offer a Jazz Theory class.

Jazz/Rhythm Improvisation

For those participating in one of our jazz ensembles, we offer opportunities to explore improvisation in a separate class. Usually divided between wind and rhythm section players, these classes are structured to help both beginners and more advanced students. These classes meet Monday through Friday.

Voice Class

Voice class is open to all students studying voice privately at CMC. The class meets Monday through Friday, with each week of the class being taught by a different member of the Hayes School of Music voice faculty. Past class topics have included vocal health, repertoire, diction, and dramatic interpretation.
